Business-class open source collaboration software developer Open-Xchange (www.open-xchange.com) has launched the latest update for Open-Xchange Server, providing users with significant usability enhancements and greater mobility support for HTC, Android 2.1 and 2.2.
Headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, Open-Xchange has a growing world-wide partner ecosystem including 1&1 Internet, Network Solutions, France’s OVH and Switzerland’s Hostpoint. Most recently, Open-Xchange announced an exclusive distribution agreement with software distributor Next IT (www.nextit.jp), effectively bringing hosted and on-premises Open-Xchange products to Japan.
According to Open-Xchange’s Wednesday announcement, Open-Xchange v.6.18.1 provides users with a more intuitive layout of the AJAX-based Web interface, featuring a new folder tree design and other features to make the Open-Xchange Web client easier and more appealing to use.
The latest update also adds support for HTC smartphones and mobile devices using the Android 2.1 and 2.2 for over-the-air synchronization, in addition to existing support for smartphones such as BlackBerry, iPhone, Nokia and Windows Mobile. Given this added functionality, Open-Xchange users can securely manage email, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes on nearly all common mobile devices.
The latest Open-Xchange version gives users an overview of all subscribed or published folders on one page, along with the subscribed or published data of a folder. There are also now Multiple Account and Unified Mail options that enable users to see to which account an email was sent.
